1. How can I set up my installation?

When buying a Model Driver policy either online or over the phone you will be asked to request an installation appointment date (Monday to Friday only, excluding Bank Holidays) with either a morning (9am to 1pm) or afternoon (1pm to 5pm) time slot.  The timeframe for the appointment must be at least 14 days but no longer than 28 days after you buy the policy. 

You will receive an email from our engineers usually within 48 hours of buying the policy (but no later than 7 days before installation).  You must call our engineers to confirm the installation appointment.  Only at this point is the appointment set up.

2. Where can the installation take place?

It must take place at an appropriate location such as your home or work address – not a lay by, slip road, on a busy road or supermarket car park.  Parking must also be available nearby for our engineer and they should be able to fully open all car doors and your boot.

3. Can I change my appointment?

To change your appointment, you must call our engineers on the number supplied in your confirmation email.  You must give at least 24 hours notice to reschedule an appointment and the new date must be within our set timeframe: at least 14 days but no longer than 28 days after you buy the policy.  Your policy will be cancelled if you are unable to set up an installation appointment within the set timeframe.

4. How long does it take to fit the Model Driver Black Box?

You installation appointment should take approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

5. Who fits the Model Driver Black Box into my car?

Our nationwide team of qualified installation engineers from a third party company will install the device into your car.

6. Does the policyholder have to be present at the installation?

No.  So long as the engineer has access to the car and is given the V5C document, a trusted friend or relative may be nominated to attend the installation instead.

7. Do I need to pay to have the Model Driver Black Box installed?

No, there is no additional charge for installation when you buy a policy.
